In what can be perceived as a major boost to ease the traffic congestion in Dimapur, the deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) on Wednesday signed a MoU with 90.8 Hills FM, where the latter will be given updates on traffic related news to be broadcast to the public.
DCP (Traffic) I Meren Chenth, expressed optimism that the collaboration will be of immense help to the public. He also thanked the community radio station for the initiative and hoped that the collaboration will go a long way in easing the traffic congestion and in educating the masses about traffic awareness, an update informed.
“I believe that this will create a common social responsibility”, Chenth said during his interaction with the FM team. The community radio also extended an invitation to the Traffic Cell to come to the station and present traffic awareness programmes for the general public.
Chenth further maintained that to ease the traffic woes and to serve the public is their sole motive. He expressed his optimism that the collaboration will go a long way in easing the traffic related problems where news updates will be given in real time.
Kr. Ngimchule Nampeung, ACP (Traffic) and Temsunochet Changkija, ADCP (Traffic/Protocol) were also present during the signing of the memorandum.
It may be mentioned that 90.8 Hills FM is the first community radio station in Dimapur. It can be accessed by tuning in to 90.8 FM frequency. The radio begins its transmission from 7 am till 7 pm and is also present on all social media platforms.
The 90.8 Hills FM team was represented by Ketho Sakhrie (programme manager), Lipoksunep Jamir (radio jockey), Sentila Longkumer (content writer & liaison officer) and Vikheto Hesso (internal operations manager). (Dimapur, EMN)
