Mokokchung, Aug. 11 (EMN): Twelve families have been rendered homeless in the aftermath of the landslides triggered by incessant rains at Mangkolemba sub-division, Mokokchung district on Aug. 10.
Sources informed that the 12 houses, including two RCC buildings, have been rendered uninhabitable due to high risk of landslide and occurrence of cracks. Six houses have been dismantled, while five have been vacated so far.
‘The displaced household members are being accommodated in the homes of neighbours or relatives on their own arrangement’, said a source.
It was informed that the displaced families need immediate financial assistance through Emergency Relief Fund or from any other source.
Sources informed that the road to Mongchen is motorable but Mangkolemba to Khar will take another few days. However, till now clearing up of road blockage has been undertaken by villagers only; no government intervention has been initiated, said the source.
