KAAC observes 74th death anniversary of Semson Sing Ingti

Diphu, March 1(EMN): Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) observed the 74th death anniversary of late Semson Sing Ingti, one of the founding leaders of erstwhile United Mikir Hills and North Cachar District now Karbi Anglong district on February 28.

The Chief Executive Member (CEM), KAAC, paid floral tribute and garlanded the statue of late Semson Sing Ingti as a mark of respect and honour to the departed leader at the new and old Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Parks.

Chairman, KAAC, Longki Timung; MLA, Bidyasing; Executive Member (EMs), KAAC and Member of Autonomous Council (MACs) and KAAC officials also paid floral tribute at the statue of late Ingti.

Speaking about the life and contribution of late Semson Sing Ingti, the CEM said late Ingti was the son of late Thengkursing Engti and Madhobi Ruth Baura and  born and brought up at Tika hills in West Karbi Anglong. Late Ingti was educated at Golaghat Mission High School. He passed his matriculation at Bezbaruah High School. Late Ingti also studied at Cotton College, Guwahati now Cotton University and graduated from Murari Chand College, Sylhet in 1933. Late Ingti also worked as a teacher for some time. He was a School Inspector.

‘Late Ingti has a deep feeling for his own community Karbis and works for reformation. Karbi Adorbar was formed by him, where he was the president and Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) was the general secretary.  Under their able leadership, they took up demand for a separate district for the Karbis and four years after India’s independence the United Mikir Hills and North Cachar district was formed now Karbi Anglong,’ the CEM said.

The CEM also said though Late Ingti could not see the fulfillment of the district, his legacy was carried out by leaders behind. As one of the founder leaders of Karbi Anglong, he needs to be remembered and honoured for his contribution to the Karbi community and district.

CEM also said not only late Semson Sing Ingti, but the general secretary of Karbi Adorbar, late Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) should also be remembered, as he had worked together with the late Ingti in demand for Mikir hills, now Karbi Anglong. His birth and death anniversary will be celebrated by the KAAC from next time.
