Dimapur, June 19 (EMN):
In view of the Covid-19 crisis bringing to light the distressing situations of people, especially the underprivileged and the homeless, Team Better Dimapur has taken up an initiative to provide medical help to the needy by providing free consultation and medicines.

The Dimapur-based team organised a medical camp for the homeless and the needy in collaboration with the Medicine Dealers’ Association at Dimapur railway station on Saturday.

Around 138 needy people with various ailments were consulted and given free medicines during the medical camp.

The team was assisted by two doctors — Dr. Tsarangpi Sangtam, Emergency Medicine; and Dr. Rosalie Sema, Medical Officer — both from Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR).

“During this dire time when so many people are struggling at different levels, the daily wage earners, the homeless and the lower strata of the people are hit the most. However when bad times prevail, goodness in people also increases. Having provided lunch to the Covid facility only last week, the need to attend to the homeless was recognised and accordingly, the Medicine Dealers’ Association were approached for a joint venture, to which they readily agreed,” Along Aier, a member of Team Better Dimapur told Eastern Mirror.

Consequently, without further delay, he said the team contacted the district administration for permission and hospital authority of CIHSR for doctors. Upon approval, the medical camp was initiated on an urgent basis considering the prevailing situation and the need to provide medical assistance to those in need.

Along with the members of Team Better Dimapur, other volunteers who assisted in the camp were members of Act of Kindness (AOK), Team Clean Dimapur, Indian Red Cross Society, North Himalaya Youth with a Mission (YWAM) and well-wishers.

The security personnel from Dimapur monitored the site of the camp.

AOK president Lenti Aier also distributed Father’s Day gifts to all those who attended the medical camp in memory of late Chini Aier.
