3.29 lakh new Covid-19 cases, 3876 deaths in India; recoveries exceed fresh infection

Dimapur, May 11 (EMN): India reported 3, 29, 942 (3.29 lakh) new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s tally to 2,29,92,517 (2.29 crore); however, the total active caseload dipped to 37, 15, 221 following 3, 56, 082 recoveries, according to data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The country registered more daily recoveries than fresh cases for the first time in two months. India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1, 90, 27, 304.
The update from Union Health ministry informed that 13 states accounted for 82.68% of India’s total active cases with Karnataka reported the highest daily new cases at 39,305, followed by Maharashtra with 37,236 and Tamil Nadu with 28,978 new cases.
Meanwhile, 3,876 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 2,49,992 till date.
As on day-115 of the vaccination drive (May 10), 25, 03, 756 vaccine doses were administered. Across 18,542 sessions, 10, 75, 948 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first dose and 14,27,808 beneficiaries received their second dose of vaccine.
It further informed that the government of India has so far provided more than 18 crore vaccine doses (18, 00, 03, 160) to states/UTs. Of this, the total consumption including wastages is 17, 09, 71, 429 doses (as per data available at 8 am on Tuesday).
Furthermore, more than seven lakh (7, 29, 610) vaccine doses will be received in addition by the states/UTs within the next three days.
