Kohima, Jan. 12 (EMN): The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has postponed its proposed LDA-cum-Computer Assistant examination till further notice.
It came a few days after the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) reiterated its stands against conducting of any departmental examination for recruitment to Group C post until Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) is implemented.
The chief engineer, WSSO and Sanitation, PHED, on Tuesday informed through a press release that the proposed departmental examination for the post of LDA-cum-Computer Assistant (PHED) scheduled to be held on January 13 has been postponed until further order, and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
Earlier in the day, the principal secretary of PHED had informed the chief engineer (Sanitation & WSSO) about the postponement of the exam through a communiqué. “As instructed by the Hon’ble Minister PHED, I have the honour to inform you that the LDA-cum-Computer Assistant exam under PHED to be held on 13 January 2021 is hereby postponed till further notification,” read the statement.
The authority concerned was also requested to “inform the candidates of the inconveniences” caused by the move.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, NSF President Ninoto Awomi said that it was “good” that the department has postponed the scheduled examination.
He said the NSF had conveyed its stand against conducting departmental examinations in the absence of NSSB during a meeting with the chief engineer and principal secretary of PHED on Monday. He added that the federation would uphold its decision and boycott the exam if the department didn’t defer its plan.
The NSF had earlier expressed shocked over the office of the chief engineer, PHED announcing the departmental exam for recruitment to various Group-C posts and appealed to refrain from it until NSSB is implemented in the state.
The federation added that it would be “compelled to take up actions it deems fit if the concern department and all other departments take up any action in contravention” of its public appeal and requested “all the aspiring candidates to kindly co-operate with the federation and abstain themselves from the proposed departmental examination in our collective bid to uphold and protect the future of the youths and students community”.
