Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): Infinity Inc. a local music label in Dimapur organised a DJ workshop with a DJ from France, DJ Hamma, as the resource person, on October 23 at the Infinity Studio and DJ Academy in the city. The event was powered by the Task Force for Music and Arts (Tafma).
Considering that the DJ culture in Nagaland is still relatively new, the CEO of Infinity Inc. Asalie Peseyie said it was an encouraging sight to see young people attending the free workshop.
DJ Hamma, a Tunisian by birth living in France started his career in 2010 and entered various competitions in 2012. By 2018, he was the France champion and world finalist in the Red Bull 3Style, stated to be one of the world’s biggest DJ competitions.
Besides teaching about the different technical aspects of deejaying during the master classes, Hamma spoke about how he started playing in small stages in front of a handful of people before eventually playing at sold out shows.
Hamma emphasised on how deejaying is a worldwide culture and how one must contribute to it positively. He reiterated the need for constant practice while keeping in mind that hard work and dedication are the keys to success. The DJ also gave a live demonstration of his skills on the turn table and engaged with the participants as the workshop progressed.
An interactive session was also conducted during which participants asked questions and Hamma gave advice on topics related to deejaying.
On behalf of the music label Peseyie conveyed his appreciation to DJ Hamma and the Tafma. “We are very grateful to DJ Hamma for accepting our invitation to be a part of our workshop. It was an exciting yet humbling experience for Infinity Inc. and our small DJ community,” he said.
