Nagaland: Walkathon marks launching of Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara in Wokha

Dimapur, Sep. 27 (EMN): Department of Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with Social Welfare, Urban Development department and Municipal Affairs, organised a walkathon to mark the launching of Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara in Wokha town on September 27. It also coincided with the launching of the integrated community sensitisation-cum-beneficiaries identification system (BIS) drive.

A DIPR report stated that the walkathon was flagged-off by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Wokha, Dr. Robin Lotha from the CMO office to Tiyi hall. It was followed with a health screening and health check up programme.

Speaking on the occasion, SDO (C), Wokha, Chonpenthung Ezung said Ayushman Bharat is one of the biggest government sponsored health schemes which covers hospital bills up to INR 5 lakh per family per year and provides free cashless health insurance to the families belonging to the urban and rural poor.

He appealed to the department of Health and Family Welfare and other line departments to organise seminars and awareness programmes to sensitise the public about the benefit of the schemes.

Senior supervisor of ICDS, Wokha, Erenbeni Kikon, presented a health talk where she emphasised on the importance of cleanliness and hygiene. She stated that cleanliness is one of the most important practices to live a healthy life.

Dwelling on nutritional need and values, Kikon said it is important lead a healthy lifestyle and reduce risk of diseases.

Kikon also encouraged the parents not to miss any immunisation as it helps protect the child from infectious disease and minimise the spreading of contagious diseases.

During the function, Disahi Vadeo, was felicitated with the best performing PMAMs under Wokha district.

Screening on blood sugar, malaria, anaemia and others were also conducted. Besides the free health check-up, distributions of information education communication (IEC) materials and Ayushman Bharat pamphlets were distributed to the participants.
