Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): Poshan Mela or nutrition fair on the theme ‘Overall Health and Nutrition’ was held for Information Education & Communication (IEC) and advocacy programme in convergence with Social Welfare, Medical, RD and Panchayat at Wakching under Mon district on July 20.
The fair was part of the Poshan Abhiyaan programme, which India’s flagship scheme to improve nutritional outcome for children, adolescent, pregnant women and lactating mothers by leveraging technology.
Renchano, CDPO Wakching spoke about the necessity of adequate diet with diversification of foods, intake of IFA and vitamin A supplementation, timely deworming, immunisation, hand washing and sanitation, and poverty intervention which can reduce the incidence of malnutrition, informed an update from DIPR on Monday.
Local product exhibition was also held during the programme. Minching, ASHA coordinator Wakching Block, briefed the vendors on health care and measures for prevention of deficiencies.
District coordinator initiated PMMVY spot registration for lactating mothers of first life-birth child and Shoiang BPM, Medical department distributed family planning aids and ORS for diarrhoea control measures during the event, according to the update.
Adjoining six Wakching Village Councils, GBs, Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and hundreds of community members attended the event. The programme was organised by Wakching Block Convergence Action Plan Committee.
