Dimapur, March 13 (EMN): The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has asked the government of Nagaland to release the salaries of teachers working in centrally-sponsored schemes.

The students’ organisation issued a press release on Monday lamenting that the failure of the government in making payments to the teaching community had “further encouraged the teachers to neglect their duties, which has largely affected the Students’ career.”

The USSC appealed to the government to fulfil the demands of the “various CSS teachers” who had been demanding that their salaries be released.

The leaders of the organisation stated that the “non-payment” of the salaries by the state government had “encouraged the teachers to neglect their duties, which has largely affected the students’ career.”

“The (organisation) therefore while maintaining its objective for quality education urge the state govt and the nodal department to act at the earliest so as to enable the (organisation) in checking irregularities in education sector within its jurisdiction,” the press release stated.

In another matter, the USSC has demanded ‘immediate transfer’ of one Aonuksang, and ‘posting of another science teacher at Govt. High School of Kiphire as he has failed to attend his duties since his joining report.’

Further, the organisation stated that the only government higher secondary school in the district, with 425 students, had been “running with only one science teacher…” for which the USSC has sought another teacher.

The organisation has demanded that the government fulfil stated demands within 30 days “failing which they will be forced to initiate its own course of action for which the state Govt shall be held responsible.”
