9th Kohima Lotha Hoho Inter-Colony Father’s Football Tournament kicks off

DIMAPUR — The 9th edition of the Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) Inter-Colony Father's Football Tournament was officially kicked off by Commissioner and Secretary and President, Lotha Officers’ Association, Orenthung Lotha, on Monday at IG Stadium.


Speaking as the special guest, Orenthung urged the gathering to introspect on how the community had struggled and evolved from the past, stated a press release.


He said that as the world is becoming very advanced, people should not only be confined to themselves but should adapt to the advancement of life, coming at par with others.


Stressing the country’s vision of Viksit Bharat, Orenthung urged every individual gathered to contribute to society in achieving a developed nation.


Meanwhile, he extended all members jubilee greetings, as KLH will be celebrating its 50th year of existence this year.

10th Regional SARAS Fair 2025 kicks off in Dimapur


Earlier, in his welcome address, KLH Chairman KN Mhonthung Lotha briefed on how the tournament started, creating a platform to gather and have fellowship through sports while bringing closeness and unity among themselves.


He informed that this year, 14 colonies (teams) are participating, vying for the championship, while reminding the players that though it is a competition, they should maintain the spirit of understanding and friendship among themselves as the tournament begins.


The tournament, organised by Kohima Lotha Hoho, will conclude on September 9.


In the matches played on Monday, defending champion Goldfinch Club, New Reserve, defeated Rhujung United, GHS, with 2-1 goals, while the Kohima Lotha Officers’ Football Team won 2-1 against Bayavu FC.


Earlier, in an exhibition match, the gathering witnessed a 60-minute game played between Kohima Lotha Hoho and Dimapur/Chümoukedima Lotha Hoho (combined).


The September 2 matches line-up will feature Tiyi XI, New Secretariat/Thizama taking on PAUN United, followed by FAM United facing Falcon XI, Lerie. Tongho Yinga, DBS-KNZ-SPZ, will play against Town Area, while Rhujung United, GHS, will go up against JOPS United. The matches will start at 8:45 am.
