92-year-old man from Ungma conferred honorary doctorate

[caption id="attachment_253662" align="aligncenter" width="565"] Guru I Sademmeren Longkumer (right) holding honorary doctorate degree certificate conferred by the National Virtual University, Bangalore.[/caption]   Dimapur, June 8 (EMN): Guru I Sademmeren Longkumer, a 92-year-old man from Ungma village, has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree by the National Virtual University, Bangalore (registered with the United Nation Organisation, Geneva) for peace and education. Born on October 9, 1927 at Ungma village in Mokokchung, Longkumer is famously known as an ‘outstanding’ teacher and headmaster of National Primary School (1948-1985), a prominent tatar and secretary of the village council (1960-1987), an expert in art, culture and literature and the founder of Naga Wadir. He is also a recipient of Governor’s award in recognition of his contribution to Ao Naga literature and folk lore (August 15, 2003), Sangeet Natak Akademi Tagore Puraskar award (April 25, 2012), informed NPBCA Mission Centre, Chumoukedima. Longkumer has published 11 books both in Ao Naga dialect and in English.
