DIMAPUR — 90.8 Hills FM Community Radio Station celebrated its first anniversary on Friday, here at Hotel Sente.
Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Sachin Jaiswal, the guest of honour, in his address, said that the concept of community radio has become very important as in today’s world where most information is tailored to individual preferences, community radio plays a crucial role by addressing the needs and concerns of the entire society without differentiating.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by the community radio, especially sponsorship, the DC however lauded its commendable initiative and going ahead despite lack of corporate sponsorship.
Chief executive of Pinnacle Skills-Seed and Director of Global Peers Skilling-Development Initiatives Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Yan Murry, the special guest of the occasion, said that operating an FM community radio station is a highly demanding endeavour and that they are the agents of change,
Acknowledging the challenges of ensuring sustainability, particularly in managing a dedicated team, he encouraged them to leverage available technology to the fullest extent possible.
Murry also said that they need to collaborate with others, recognising that financial stability is essential for the sustainable operation of any organisation.
During the event, certificates of appreciation were also handed over to Prodigals’ Home, Can Youth, Faith Ministry, Dreamz Unlimited, Rotary Club Dimapur, Inner Wheel Club Dimapur, Team Better Dimapur and Childline Dimapur.
Earlier, president/general secretary of Faith Ministry Society pronounced the invocation prayer and the managing director of 90.8 Hills FM Imali Hesso delivered anniversary greetings.
