9 intending candidates, including 3 women, defy Ao Senden at Tuli
Mokokchung, Jan. 4: Despite the call from Ao Senden to boycott the municipal and town council elections in Ao areas, 9 intending candidates (NPF ticket holders) including three women under reservation quota for Tuli Town Council have filed their nomination papers today. This was informed by ADC Tuli to this correspondent.
Tuli Town Council consists of nine seats, out of which three come under reservation for women. The reserved seats are in sectors 3, 6 and 9. The Tuli ADC, Sentiyanger Aier informed that nominations proceeded peacefully today. He further added that more intending candidates will be coming forward to file their nomination paper for the upcoming town council for Tuli. Sources said that the Ao Senden has called for a meeting on Thursday to discuss the latest development. It was suggested that the Ao Senden leaders would meet those who have filed their nominations and reason with them to withdraw the same. The final decision, however, would be taken in Thursday’s meeting.
