8th Sports Meet of WASU underway at Chingdang village

DIMAPUR — The 8th Sports Meet-cum-37th general session of the Wakching Area Students’ Union (WASU) commenced at Chingdang village in Mon on Tuesday. The event is being held on the theme “Sporting culture and Identity”.

According to a press release, the opening ceremony was attended by W Chingang Konyak, Advisor for the Department of Under Developed Areas, Geology and Mining, as special guest, and Methlow Konyak, contractor, Naginimora, as guest of honour.

In his brief remark, Chingang said that the event marked a new step in the spirit of unity and encouraged the players to excel in their games and strive for top positions, starting with the ongoing event.

Methlow, in his speech, shared his experiences of achieving success in life and advised the youngsters to become self-employed for their livelihood and to work hard to achieve success in life. He also encouraged the youth to be humble, respectful, and well-mannered.

Short speeches were also delivered during the programme by Temwang Angh, president of WASU, and the chairman of the Chingdang Village Council.
