8 teams to compete in ASUD’s Autumn Huddle

DIMAPUR — The Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) is all set to conduct the 4th edition of Autumn Huddle, slated to take place from November 15 to the 16th at the Government Higher Secondary School ground in Nagarjan. The two-day event will witness competition amongst eight teams representing students’ unions and sub units from under Ao Students’ Union Dimapur.

This was announced by the convenor of ASUD, Ricky Ozukum here on Tuesday during a press conference held at Alaphra Group Office, River Belt Colony Dimapur on November 14.

During the press conference, ASUD President Imnatemsu Pongen shared that the union comprises 49 village units, 8 sub-units, and approximately 12,000 registered students.

Pongen mentioned that the event would include football, volleyball, athletics, and tug of war.  The 57 ASUD units have been divided into eight teams and will compete in the event starting November 15.

Asemang marathon on Nov. 25

Meanwhile, Ozukum announced that as part Autumn Huddle, the ASUD is going to organise a national marathon named ‘Asemang’— the Dimapur Marathon which will be a first of its kind in the state of Nagaland with participation from different parts of the country. The event is scheduled for November 25.

He also mentioned that the marathon is open to everyone and comprises of two categories for both male and female. They include a half marathon covering a distance of 21-kilometre and a 10-kilometre run.

In the 21-kilometre half marathon category, the fastest male and female runners will receive a cash prize of INR 1 lakh each, second place winners will be awarded INR 50,000 each for both male and female and third place winners in both the categories will receive a cash prize of INR 20,000 each.

The top finishers, both male and female, in the 10-Kilometer red ribbon run will receive INR 25,000 each for securing the fastest time and second place winners will be awarded INR 15,000 each for both categories. The third place winners will receive a cash prize of INR 10,000 each.

Ozukum said that the event aims to discover talent within the state while promoting exceptional individuals excelling in sports. At present, approximately 300 participants have registered from outside the state, and they are anticipating a total participation ranging between 1500 to 2000 individuals in the marathon.

The marathon will be flag off from Dimapur Stadium at 5 am on November 25 and registration can be done online with a fee INR 500 for the 21 kilometre run and INR 300 for the 10 kilometre run.
