Dimapur, Jan. 26: Responding to the appeal made by the leaders of Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), eight candidates have decided to resign from contesting the ensuing Phek Town Council election with effect from January 26.
The decision to resign from contesting the ensuing Phek Town Council elections following a joint meeting between CBCC representatives and ULB election candidates of Phek town on January 26 at Chakhesang Baptist Church, Dimapur.
It said after prayerful deliberation, a mutual understanding was reached and resolved to come out with Memorandum of Understanding with the true Christian principles. The decision was taken in the best interest and unity of the Chakhesang people.
The candidates who have decided to resign from the ensuing Phek Town Council elections are Nesucho Keyho of Ward No. 2, Salie Khesoh of Ward No. 8, Vezhopra Thingo of Ward No. 5, Avi Movi of Ward No. 7, Viketou Nienu of Ward No. 10, Veduhulu Nakro of Ward No. 3, Mrs Wetsole Rhakho of Ward No. 1 and Mrs Neiwekhwe-u Khusoh of Ward No. 9.
The CBCC officials were represented by Rev. Khrotso Mero, Rev. Khrutsoyi Luruo, Rev. Dr. Weyiete Lohe, Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, Rev. Dr. Nuvocho Dzudo, Vezopra Rhakho and Kuvehu Therie.
3 ready to forfeit candidatures
In line with the resolution taken by the BJP candidates for the ensuing DMC poll, three BJP candidates for the ensuing East Dimapur Town Council resolved to withdraw/ forfeit only if other political party candidates take the first plunge.
The BJP candidates namely Aoenla Ao of Ward No 9, Columbus Lotha of Ward No 5 and Phushito Sumi of Ward No 10 said they have taken the resolution to this effect in deference to the call of their respective tribal bodies.
