DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 : Eight urban ‘federal units’ of Ao Senden, the apex civil body of the Aos, on Tuesday declared their “unflinching support” to decision taken by the Ao Senden Federal Council on September 23 last in connection with the Rongmei issue.
The urban units include: Kohima, Wokha, Medziphema, Chumukedima, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang and Dimapur. On September 23 last, the Ao Senden Federal Council had resolved to dissociate from the Naga Hoho until the latter withdraws its consent on Rongmei recognition issue.
The eight urban units met on Tuesday at Dimapur and arrived at the decision. They have also alleged that some “Ao national workers from the NSCN (IM)” were campaigning against the decision of the Ao Senden Federal Council.
They have condemned such activities of the “Ao national workers from the NSCN (IM)”, and have asked the latter to stop “indulging in such activities.”
To confirm the allegation, Eastern Mirror contacted an Ao leader in the NSCN (IM) ranks. He informed that there was indeed a meeting between the Ao national workers from NSCN (IM) and Ao apex bodies at Mokokchung last week.
According to him, the meeting with the leaders of the Ao apex bodies was held solely in order to share the message of brotherhood and Naga unity.
