Dimapur, June 1 (EMN): The 78th Bn CRPF celebrated its 35th Raising Day at the unit headquarter, Zubza in Kohima district on Monday, by paying homage to the martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation. Officers and personnel laid wreaths at the Jai Jawan Memorial.
Head of the unit, Ram Chandra hoisted the CRPF flag and took salute at unit’s quarter guard and briefed the personnel about the achievements and role played by the battalion since its inception, June 1, 1985, under the leadership of Commandant P K Menon, an update from the unit informed.
Currently, the 78th Bn CRPF is functioning at Zubza from August 2007 and its companies are deployed in Kohima and Dimapur districts for ROP, security, escort and CPT of governor of Nagaland and civil convoy escort duties. Since its raising, a total of eight personnel of the unit were awarded with police medal for gallantry.
In commemoration of the day, an inter-coy shuttle badminton competition was held in the evening. Chandra handed over the prizes to the winning and runner-up teams of the competition and encouraged them to involve themselves in sporting activities for physical fitness.
A “Bara Khana” was also organised by maintaining proper social distance.
