
Sh. Devnath Somkunwar addressing the CRPF personnel on the
occasion of Valour Day at Sechu-Zubza on Wednesday.
- DIMAPUR — The 78
CRPF observed Valour Day on Wednesday at its battalion headquarters at
Sechu-Zubza.
- An update from the battalion stated that Valour Day is
observed on April 9 every year in remembrance of extraordinary bravery, unparalleled
courage, exemplary fortitude and steadfast devotion to duty even at the cost of
life displayed by merely two companies of CRPF on April 9, 1965, at Sardar Post
on Rann of Kuchh, Gujarat, against a full-fledged brigade attack deceptively
orchestrated by the Pakistan Army.

- It stated that in that fierce battle, 34 Pakistani soldiers
were neutralized, while four were apprehended alive. Six brave hearts of CRPF
attained martyrdom on that fateful day.
- On the occasion Sh. Devnath Somkunwar, commandant, and unit
personnel paid homage to the martyrs at martyrs' memorial.
- Later, the commandant took salute at Quarter Guard and
conducted special Sainik Sammelan.
- In the evening, sports competition was organised and bada
khana was arranged for troops.
