Districts and sub-division across Nagaland celebrate 77th Republic Day

Recipients & awardees of Governor's Gold Medal announced

DIMAPUR — The 77th Republic Day was celebrated in all districts and sub-division across Nagaland on Monday.
Dimapur: The celebration was held at DDSC Stadium with Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir, delivering the Republic Day address.
The minister stated that under MGNREGA during 2025-26, the Rural Development department has been able to generate more than 88 lakh person-days and provided employment to 2.64 lakh households.
With a view to ensure scientific and holistic approach for planning at village level, the GIS-based plans are being prepared for all villages, Jamir said.
Jamir also mentioned that the department, in collaboration with the State Institute of Rural Development, endeavours to strengthen the traditional local bodies through training and capacity buildings under revamped Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).

On the occasion, district awards were conferred upon the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Dimapur; Vizokholie Meyase, UDA at Deputy Commissioner’s office; WPC Korainla, Crime Branch, DCP Office; Temsuwapang Longchar, Senior Sanitation Inspector, Dimapur Municipal Council; Mempho Phom, day chowkidar, Office of the District Education Officer; Water and Sanitation Committee (WATSAN), Aoyimti village; Dimapur Gurudwara Sahib; and social worker Chandu Kumar Agarwal.

The recipients of the Governor's Gold Medal as announced on Republic Day 2025 are Suman Shivashankar Sivachar, Divisional Forest Officer, Wokha; Tsutsowe Kupa, Under Secretary, State Election Commission; and Lanuchuba Longchar, Asst. Commandant, 12th NAP (IR) Bn.
The awardees of the Governor’s Gold Medal announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2026 are Chubasangla Longkumer, Joint Secretary, Home Department; K Tingtenmoie Konyak, Executive Engineer, Electrical Division, Mon; Dr. Micheal Imti Imchen, Dy. Director, Veterinary Hospital, Dimapur; Dr. Wobenthung M Kithan, Medical Officer, Chukitong PHC; E Aphak Konyak, UBI, DEF Mon; and Abemo Ezung, ABI, Narcotic Branch, PHQ.
The parade contingents included Police Commissionerate, 11 NAP (IR) Battalion, Excise Guard, Civil Defence and SDRF, Ex-Servicemen, NCC Dimapur Government College, PM SHRI Government High School, Burma Camp, and the 15th Assam Rifles Band Platoon. (Our Reporter)
Wokha: The celebration was held at Public Ground, Wokha, with Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, who unfurled the tricolour and addressed the gathering.

The ceremonial march past featured contingents from the DEF Wokha, 7th NAP, District Home Guards & Civil Defence, Ex-Servicemen, BS&G Wokha, NCC JNV Chukitong, NCC Mount Tiyi College, and NCC GHSS Wokha.
The minister also inaugurated the stalls.
Adding vibrancy to the occasion, cultural performances highlighted the district’s rich traditions. Folk songs presented by the Wokha Town Lakhuti women cultural club and Wokha Town Longsa women cultural group captivated the audience, reflecting the cultural heritage of the community.
The celebrations concluded with the beating of retreat by the DEF Wokha in the evening.
Mokokchung: Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen, unfurled the national flag and delivered the Republic Day address at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex. Seven contingents participated in the ceremonial march-past, including DEF Mokokchung, 2nd NAP, 13th IRB (Yajang), Home Guards, Ex-Servicemen, NCC (MGHSS), Mokokchung District BS&G, and the 2nd NAP Band Party.

Mannen also inaugurated the exhibition stalls showcasing the achievements and initiatives of various departments. Cultural performances and tug-of-war added vibrancy to the celebration, with presentations by Zee Walok cultural troupe, Ungma village, and Chang Union cultural troupe, Mokokchung.
The evening programme featured an exhibition football match and a penalty shootout.
Chümoukedima: Advisor for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, unfurled the national flag at Sammogooting Stadium, DC’s office complex, a DIPR report stated.
The parade contingents included 1st NAP Battalion, 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Battalion, 22nd Assam Rifles, Ex-Servicemen, Patkai College, Government Higher Secondary School, Tetso College, St. Joseph College, Assam Rifles Training Centre and School Pipe Band.
District Commendation Awards were presented to the WATSAN Committee, Tsithrongse village, and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Chümoukedima.
Other highlights included cultural performances including folk dances by the Sumi cultural troupe and Kuyingpong Cultural Society (Sangtam Naga).
Later, the Zhaleo also inaugurated exhibition stalls set up by various departments. The programme concluded with the beating of retreat ceremony by the 1st NAP Battalion, Chümoukedima.
Zunheboto: The celebration was held at Local Ground, Zunheboto, with Minister for PWD (Roads & Bridges), G Kaito Aye as the special guest.
The Minister unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from the parade contingents followed by the Republic Day address. A colourful march-past was presented by eight contingents composed of the District Executive Force (DEF), 8th NAP, Ex-Servicemen, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Band Party, 8th Assam Rifles, NCC Unit of GHSS, Olympic HSS, and Cornerstone HSS.
Special attractions of the day included a Naga Kheks special number, an indigenous dance performance by Alahuto Colony Sunday School, 8th Assam Rifles, and inauguration of exhibition stalls by the special guest. The celebrations concluded with the traditional beating of retreat by DEF Zunheboto.
Tuensang: Advisor of DUDA, Geology and Mining, Chingang Konyak unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute at Parade Ground, Tuensang.
The parade contingents included DEF Tuensang, 3rd NAP Tuensang, Home Guard and Civil Defence, Village Guard from Tuensang village and Kejok village, Ex-Servicemen, NCC Tuensang, 3rd NAP and Hauhyang Chuba pipe bands.
The advisor also flagged off two wheeler taxi service and inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various Departments from Tuensang. Chingang was accompanied by MLAs Lima Onen Chang and Imti Choba Chang, and host of dignitaries.
Phek: Advisor for Land Resources, G Ikuto Zhimomi was the special guest at the Republic Day celebration held at Local Ground, Phek town.The advisor unfurled the national flag also took the Rashtriya salute from the six parade contingents, including DEF Phek, 5th NAP, Home Guards, Bharat Scouts & Guides, 39th Assam Rifles and Pipe Band (39th AR).
Zhimomi also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set-up by the Department of Agriculture, District Legal Services, ARCS (Cooperation), Horticulture, Election, Medical, Treasury & Accounts, and Nagaland Mission (Lirhû Vandhan).
Highlights of the program include folk songs presented by Bible Hill Ward and a special performance by Tune UP Academy, Phek.
Noklak: Advisor, School Education & SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from the parade contingents comprising of DEF & NAP Noklak; Village Guard, Anyashu; Village Guard, Pathso; GHSS Noklak; GHS Noklak; Holy Angel High School; St. Paul School; Christian High School; and Frontier Piper Band, NVG.
Later, Yhome inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various departments, Noklak District Handloom & Handicrafts Council and SHGs.
To mark the occasion, the district administration along with HoDs of various departments and Red Cross Society, Noklak Branch, visited District Hospital Noklak.
Longleng: The event was held at Public Ground, Longleng, with Advisor for Minority Affairs and Sericulture, Imkongmar as the special guest. The parade contingents comprised of DEF Longleng, Village Guard, Yingli College, Bautung GHSS, St. Joseph HS, Good Shepherd HS and 12th NAP (IR) Chingtok Band party.
The special guest inaugurated the exhibition stalls and inspected the stalls set up by various departments. Highlights of the day were presentation of folk dance by the Tangha Buhu Hoichem, folk song by Tangha Momchingla, special performance by students of Christian School Longleng, and an exhibition match and penalty shootout between various departments.
Meluri: Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, unfurled the national flag and took the Rashtriya salute from the parade contingents.

The parade contigents included Village Guards of Lephory post, Ex- Servicemen, Christian HSS, St. Xavier HSS, GHSS Meluri and VG Pipe Band.
Kruse also inaugurated the exhibition stalls installed by various departments and self help groups. Other highlights of the day included a special presentation by Project 5 PM and a cultural dance by Meluri Women Society.
Kiphire: The Republic Day was celebrated at Local Ground, Kiphire, with Advisor of Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak as the special guest.
Eight parade contingents took part in the ceremonial parade, including the 30th Assam Rifles, DEF Kiphire,14th NAP (IR), Village Guard Kiphire village, NCC, Zisaji Presidency Government College, BS&G, Pipe Band, of 30th Assam Rifles and Parade BHM Kiphire.
Konyak also inaugurated and inspected the exhibition stalls set up by various government department of the district.
Other highlights of the programme were cultural presentation from Kiphire village cultural troupe and Hilly troupe of Zisaji Presidency College.
Peren: The celebration was held at the DC’s office complex, with Minister of Forest, Environment & Climate Change and Village Guards, CL John unfurling of the national flag.
As part of the celebration, national flags were hoisted in all government offices, institutions, and residential premises across the district in the early morning hours.
The march past featured contingents from DEF Peren; 9th NAP (IR) Saijang; Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jalukie; Peren Government College; and Sainik School, Punglwa.
Cultural performances were presented by the Rongmei cultural troupe, Peren, and Peren Government College cultural troupe. The Minister also inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up at the venue.
On the occasion, awards were presented to progressive farmers and best farm school awardees in recognition of their contributions to agriculture and allied sectors.
Mon: Minister of Health & Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak, attended the Republic Day celebration at Local Ground, Mon Town, as the special guest.
On the occasion, the minister also launched the Mon Matti Portal, a digital land record and land permit management system.
The parade contingents comprised of 42 Assam Rifles, Mon, 42 Assam Rifles, Pipe Band, DEF Mon, Village Guards, Ex-Servicemen, NCC, GHSS Mon, GHSS Mon town, Don Bosco HSS (Scout & Guides), Mon District BS&G and 6th NAP Pipe Band.
Other highlights of the programme were presentation of special number by Akhao Konyak and cultural dances by Totok Union, Mon Town (women) and Mon Union Mon Town.
Tseminyu: The celebration was held at RSA Ground, Tseminyu, with Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor of Industry & Commerce, as the special guest who unfurled the national flag.
The parade contingents included the 4th NAP (A) coy, GHSS-NCC, Baptist Higher Secondary School -NCC, DBS-NCC, Christian School Tseminyu and Ex-Servicemen.
The Special Guest also inaugurated exhibition stalls set up by various departments and visited the district hospital & orphanage home.
Other highlights of the programme included special number presented by the Music Academy Tseminyu and folk song by Kasha Daho Tseminyu Unit.
Niuland: Minister of PHED & Co-operation Jacob Zhimomi unfurled the national flag and took Rashtriya salute from the nine Parade contingents at Niuland Public Ground.
The minister also handed over the District Commendation Award to the nine officers and staffs during the programme.
The programme also witnessed special presentation from Alino Chishi, and folk dance and folk song from Old Showuba village and Nguvihe village, respwectively. Zhimomi also inaugurated 19 exhibition stalls set up by various government departments and organisations.
Shamator: The celebration was attended by S Toiho, Deputy Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, as the special guest.
The parade contingents included DEF Shamator; Shamator Battalion; Assam Rifles; Village Guards Shamator Hq.; GHSS Shamator; St. Xavier HSS; Christian High School and NCC Shamator College.
The program also witnessed special items presented by The Quiet Kids, Groot Brothers and Shamator Taekwondo Association, followed by colourful cultural presentation from Wongphong Peilo Areihlu, Mongtsüwong Cultural Society and Eastern Sumi cultural troupe.
Nagaland House, New Delhi: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated at Nagaland House, New Delhi, with Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG Kenye as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, the minister reminded everyone of the significance of the occasion, which is to mark the day the Constitution of India, came into force. Nagaland, being the 16th State of India, he added, is doing its best to bring development on all fronts. Kenye further exhorted the citizens to uphold the ideals of the nation and its aspirations.
Joint Resident Commissioner, NH New Delhi, Sharon Longchari led the celebration which was also attended by children, senior officers and staff of NH New Delhi.
The 77th Republic Day was also celebrated in sub-divisions, including Pungro, Tamul, Medziphema, Atoizu, Pughoboto, Bhandari, Chiephobozou, Tobu, Monyakshu, Tizit, Changtongya, Tening, Chozuba, Longkhim, Seyochung, Satakha, Sanis, Naginimora, Aboi, Jakhama and Pfutsero.
Meanwhile, various institutions, charitable organisations and unions, including ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema; Sainik School Punglwa; Pranab Vidyapith HSS; Ram Janaki HSS; Pulie Badze Club, Jotsoma; Nagaland University; Lions Club of Dimapur; Kohima Chamber of Commerce & Industry; MGM College, Dimapur; and Lions Club of Dimapur Elite, also marked the day by organising programmes and visitations.
