5th NE Media Sports Festival underway at Guwahati

IMPHAL, NOVEMBER 26

A 10-member All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) sports team departed for Guwahati on Tuesday to take part in nine-day 5th North East Media Sports Festival. A total of 20 media centres from entire North East states are participating at the sports festival which began on November 24 last.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Public Relations & Minor Irrigation, K Meghachandra, flagged off the AMWJU team from the Manipur Press Club this morning. The flagging off ceremony was also attended by AMWJU president, Wangkhemcha Shyamjai. The AMWJU team which have good records in the previous festivals will take part in table tennis and badminton events from tomorrow onwards. The media sports festival is being organised by the Assam Sports Journalists Association and sponsored by the State Bank of India, Numaligarh Refinery Ltd, OIL and Megha Assam Bond. So far competitions in cricket and chess had already being held, it was informed.
