5th Master Shield Trophy 2021: United Mongchen and Titan register wins

Mokokchung, Feb. 8 (EMN): Titan Cricket Club secured a stunning victory over its arch-rival Skylark CC by 28 runs while United Mongchen easily defeated the Troopers by a huge margin of 191 runs at the 5th Master Shield Trophy 2021 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung on Monday.

In the first match, United Mongchen won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 232/3 in 20 overs.  Sentimoa scored an impressive knock of 82 runs off 38 balls and an unbeaten cameo from Tongpang (not out) for 72 runs off 43 balls.

The three wickets of United Mongchen were collected by Bendangakum (two) and Limasunep (one).

In reply, the Troopers entered the field in high spirits; however, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.  By 9 overs, all wickets of the Troopers were knocked down and they could only collect a total of 41/ 9 in 9 overs.

For United Mongchen, Alemtemsu picked four wickets from one over while Imlikokba collected two wickets from two overs. The man of the match was bagged by Sentimoa for his impressive score of 82 runs off 38 balls not out.  

Meanwhile, the second match was witnessed between two arch-rival Cricket clubs in Mokokchung. Titan who won the toss elected to bat first and collected 175/7 in 20 overs.  Tohuka of Titan amassed 52 runs from 32 balls and Neehal scored 40 runs.

In response, Skylark tore into the bowling attack and struck a competitive score rate at the start but wickets started to drop slowly as the match progressed.

As the final over arrived with Skylark having only one wicket and needing more than 20 runs to win the match, Himanshu who stood at the field till the final over tried to knock some boundaries  but was checked by Titan bowlers and impressive fielding. Himanshu managed to score 42 runs of 24 balls.

Neehal who scored 40 runs and picked two wickets for Titans was adjudged man of the match.
