54th wrestling meet of WASA on January 25

Dimapur, Jan. 22: The 54th wrestling meet of the Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) will be held on January 25 at Kohima local ground.

The inaugural function, which will commence at 9.30 am, would be graced by Dr. Kedozeto Punyü, president, Angami Gazetted Officers Krotho (AGOK), as the chief guest.

The function will be chaired by WASA president Kobou Mezhünyü, while Mezhüngulie Mor, travelling pastor, Western Angami Baptist Church Council will pronounce the invocation, followed by the oath of administration to the players by WASA wrestling secretary, Thinosetso Gwirie.

A total of 56 wrestlers from the four units under WASA will be vying for the ultimate title. The first prize is being sponsored by T. Husie Lhousa, assistant conservator of forest. The prize sponsors for the second, third and fourth prizes are Lhousarovi Paul Rino, P.S. to Minister Social Welfare & Parliamentary Affairs, Thinohekho Sechü, former chairman, Mengujuma Village Council and Er. Kedolhouto Punyü, SDO PHED, Wokha, respectively.

Meanwhile, WASA has called for a meeting with all the tournament and unit officials on January 24 at 3 p.m at Kohima local ground. The respective units have also been informed to submit two flags each.

The selected wrestlers will represent WASA at the forthcoming Angami Sports Association (ASA) sports meet scheduled in February this year.
