533 cr for Nagaland forest management

Dimapur, Jan. 30: In the wrap up meeting convened by the department of Economic Affairs, Union Ministry of Finance, on Monday at New Delhi – attended by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Nagaland – the Minutes of Discussions (MD) on “Nagaland Forest Management Project” was examined and approved.

This information was contained in a press statement issued by Lhoubeilatuo Kire, principal secretary to the government of Nagaland, department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. “The proposed project cost amounting to ` 533 crore (Rupees Five Hundred and Thirty Three crore) was approved,” Kire informed.

The Minutes of Discussions (MD) was signed by Kyosuke Inada for JICA, S Elamurugannan, IFS, AIGF for Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change , government of India and on behalf of government of Nagaland, Lhoubeilatuo Kire, IFS, principal secretary to government of Nagaland , department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and I Panger Jamir, IFS, PCCF and HOFF.

“The project objectives seek to improve forest ecosystem and support income generation by rehabilitation of jhum area and provision of livelihood support, thereby contributing to sustainable forest and environmental conservation and livelihood improvement in the target villages in Nagaland state,’ according to the press release.
