52,793 students to appear HSSLC and HSLC exams from today

Yimchunger students of Tuensang Town to appear HSLC in Shamatore

Altogether 37,269 students would be sitting for High School Leaving Certificate and (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations 2015 under Nagaland Board of School Education.
Out of the total, 23,639 students would be sitting for HSLC (Class-10) examination which commences from February 11 in 72 centres and two sub-centres spread across the State.
This year’s enrollment has shown an increase of 1961 students as there were 21,678 students enrolled last year.In HSLC, females students have outnumbered male students as they have 12097 against 11542 males.
Out of the total 23,639 students, 14,140 students are recognized while 5280 are permitted; 4210 repeaters and nine falls under others category.
Dimapur district with 22 centres has the highest number of students at 7017 followed by Kohima with 4161 students in 11 centres while Kiphire district is the least with 684 students to appear exams in three centres.
HSLC exam will conclude on February 24.
A total of 13657 students would be appearing for the HSSLC exams (Class-12), which commences on February 10 and conclude on March 2 in 48 centres across the State.
The total comprises of 6899 males and 6758 females candidates.
Arts stream with a total of 9950 students (M – 4710 & F – 5240) has the highest number of candidates while Science with 2476 (M – 1400 & F – 1076) is second and Commerce has the least candidates with 1231 candidates (M – 789 & F – 442).
There has been increase of only 87 students in HSSLC examinations as there were 13,570 students last year.
Meanwhile, another 15,497 students would be sitting for Class-11 promotion examination in 147 examination centres. The break for Class-11 comprise of Arts – 11,500; Science – 2697 and Commerce – 1300.
Here too, Dimapur 17 centres has the highest number of candidates at 5792 while Longleng with only one centre has the least students at 86.
Notably, the talking this correspondent Controller of Exams, Neilazolie Liezietsu revealed that because of the ongoing tense situation in Tuensang Town, the students appearing HSLC examinations in the affected area has been shifted to Shamatore Government High School, in Kiphire district.
The initiative to take the students to the new centre in Shamatore, which is about 56 kms, is being taken by the district administration and Yimchunger Students’ Union, sources said, adding that sfficials from NBSE have also left for Shamatore for smooth conduct of the examinations.
Further, NBSE Chairperson, Asano Sekhose expresses the hope that with the active support and cooperation from the District Administration, the School Centers and other agencies, the examinations will be conducted smoothly in line with its conduct rules.
