51st Chakhroma Sports Meet to kick off from Oct. 23

The 51st Chakhroma Sports Meet 2021, organised by the Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) is set to commence from Oct. 23 to the 30th at Medziphema town.

The president of CYO, Seyieneilhou Keyho, during a press briefing at Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) hall, informed that there are 42 villages affiliated under CYO including representatives of seven-eight colonies affiliated under Chakhroma area. He said that CYO is a constituent body of the Angami range, affiliated to Angami Sports Association and Angami Youth Organisation.

He informed that they have divided the sports activities into four groups — Group D from Medziphema area, Group C from Razaphema, Sochünoma and Chümoukedima area, Group B from Chümoukedima area and Group A from Dimapur town (Kuda area).

Out of 42 villages, they are expecting more than 30 villages to participate in the tournament. There will be football and volleyball for both men and women.

The vice president of CYO, Hovise Naleo informed that the cash prize for the winner of the men’s football tournament is INR 50,000, and INR 30,000 (runner- up). There will also be individual prizes for — player of the tournament, best goalkeeper, best defender and top scorer.

For volleyball tournament (men and women), the winner will receive a cash prize of INR 20,000 and INR 15,000 (runner- up) and individual prize for the best player will also be given.

Medo Yhokha, Advisor to CM and Advisor of Technical Educational Elections, Nagaland will grace the opening ceremony and Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, Chairman of Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board will grace the closing ceremony, it stated.
