Dimapur, Aug. 14 (EMN): Five persons were apprehended by the 'surveillance on illicit trade and business (kilo ministry) team' of the NSCN (IM) during a routine check along the Nagaland-Assam border towards Burma camp.

Six dead pigs were found being transported in an autorickshaw at around 2.30 am on Friday, it was informed.

A member of the surveillance team informed Eastern Mirror that the five apprehended, who were non-locals, supply pork to butchers in Dimapur.

"During routine checking, we intercepted a Santro and autorickshaw together; the pigs were cut and tied up in sacks," informed the member.

The member of the surveillance team informed that the culprits would sell the pork to butchers who would in turn sell them as 'local bred'.

Further, it was informed that the seized dead pigs will be disposed off and buried.

It may be mentioned that due to the outbreak of African swine fever in the neighbouring state of Assam, the state government had banned the import of pigs.
