VEZOKHO Chotso from Phek district is among the five Nagas who were awarded with the prestigious Bharat Jyoti Award by the India International Friendship Society (IIFS). The award was presented during a seminar on ‘Economic Growth and National Integration’ in New Delhi on August 24 by General (Retd) JJ Singh and former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.Chotso was honoured for his meritorious services, outstanding performance and remarkable role in social service. He, along with four other Nagas from the Konyak tribe, Sema, Ao and Khiamniungan respectively were recipients of the Award this year. However, their names could not be ascertained.
Vezokho Chotso is the general secretary of the Himalayan Pariwar, Nagaland state.
The Bharat Jyoti Award is given to few extraordinary men and women who have specialized in various fields like Science and Technology, Education, Industry, Fine Arts, Politics and Social Work and rendered yeoman services with excellence in their respective fields.
