A five-day floriculture training at KVK Wokha aims to boost entrepreneurship and self-reliance among youth.

WOKHA — A five-day training programme on improved production technologies in floriculture was inaugurated at the KVK Office conference hall, Wokha, on Monday.
The programme is funded under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) project “Strengthening tribal farming systems through a critical input support system and technology backstopping under the KVK instructional farm.”
District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Wokha, Lolano Patton, the special guest of inaugural programme, in her address, emphasised the multiple opportunities floriculture offers for self-reliance and self-employment, while boosting entrepreneurship among youth.
She highlighted that the training would unlock knowledge and strategies, equipping participants with skills to upgrade their capabilities.
Stressing the importance of discipline and attentiveness, she encouraged trainees to embrace floriculture as a livelihood option.

Patton further elaborated on the diverse uses of flowers in daily life—from medicinal purposes to fragrance industries and business opportunities. She underscored the potential of digital marketing in expanding floriculture markets and suggested the creation of a flowers growers’ association in Wokha district to promote sustainable business and integration.
Dr. Mhalo Tungoe highlighted the objectives of the training, which include components of floriculture, different approaches, training schedules, exposure visits, awareness of schemes, skill enhancement, and value addition.
Delivering the keynote address, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK Wokha, Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, spoke on the significance of strengthening floriculture through technology backstopping and critical input support.
The five-day programme will feature practical sessions, exposure visits, and interactive discussions aimed at enhancing floriculture practices and entrepreneurship in the district.
