5-day blood donation drive commences in Kohima

Kohima, June 14 (EMN):
A blood donation camp is being organised by Voluntary Blood Donors Association Kohima in collaboration with Assam Rifles and supported by Blood Bank, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) at the hospital in Kohima.

It was informed that 13 persons donated their blood at the blood donation camp, which was organised to observe World Blood Donor Day.

 Medical officer Dr. Avila Sangtam, in-charge of the blood bank, said that people were responding to voluntary blood donation, which she termed as a “positive sign”.

She also stated that of late, various civil organisations and NGOs were becoming more aware of the importance of blood donation and said it would have a huge impact on blood donation in the near future.

According to the Voluntary Blood Donors Association Kohima, the day also provides an opportunity to thank all the doctors, nurses, health workers and voluntary blood donors. 

It also provides an opportunity to sort out adequate resources put into place and infrastructures to increase the collection of blood from voluntary and non-remunerated blood donors. 

Meanwhile, Voluntary Blood Donors Association Kohima called upon all the donors to donate their blood in the ongoing blood donation camp to “save human life and make a difference” at the Blood Bank, NHAK being conducted between 10 am to 4 pm till June 19.
