Mokokchung, Jan. 18 (EMN): The 4th Nokdenlemba Open Volleyball Trophy 2022 organised by Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) got underway at Multi-purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Tuesday.

The trophy was officially kicked off by SDO Mokokchung Temsuchuba Jamir as the inaugural guest.

Jamir in his speech observed that the district has reached a stagnant point in progress compared to its predecessor’s achievements and urged the people to rejuvenate once again to move forward in various fields.

Stating that discipline and hardwork are essential for any game and sport, he advised the players that they should not be proud of the small progress they have accomplished, but rather learn to become more humble and focus more to hone their skills.

Further lauding the AKM for organising the running trophy, Jamir said ‘let this event be a torch that contributes to unity and progress in our society.’

Meanwhile, in the inaugural match, Kumlong Sporting Association ‘A’ defeated Waromung Sports Association, Jangpetkong in straight sets 19-25;19-25.

Altogether 12 teams are vying for the coveted title, while the tourney will culminate on January 20.
