4th Nagaland State Angling Competition concludes

Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): Hinato Chophy emerged as the overall champion with a catch of 1.8 kg fish at the 4th Nagaland State Angling Competition (NSAC), which was held at Dimaraja Lake on Saturday.
The competition was organised by Anglers Association Nagaland (AAN) in collaboration with department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, government of Nagaland. A total of 282 participated in the competition including 56 anglers from Manipur and 17 from Assam participated.
The champion walked away with a cash prize of INR 75,000 along with certificate and trophy, while the first runner up, Vinanto Sumi with a catch of 1.385 kg fish bagged a cash prize of INR 50,000, and the third runner up, Okram Manglem with 1.2 kg fish secured a cash prize of INR 25,000.
Meanwhile, consolation prizes of angling rods were also awarded to 50 participants.
Speaking as the special guest, Director of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources department, government of Nagaland, Kevisa Kense said that the department intended to help AAN through the competition in providing a place for angling, saying that he was in the process of creating water bodies at his residence to provide such spots for anglers, and also help the environment.
Kense added that angling or fishing came to existence to support family needs, since time immemorial and also informed that the department will be organising another competition in collaboration with the association during the Hornbill fest.
