Kohima — The fourth edition of Brillante Piano Festival is scheduled to be held from Sep. 29 till Oct. 1 in Kohima at Capital Cultural Hall featuring exciting events.

The festival will feature national and international musicians besides the local musicians.

Interacting with media persons in Kohima, the founder and director of Brillante Khyochano Tck said that the Brillante (Nagaland) Piano Festival started as a small event in 2017 but it has now become a pan-India movement. She said the festival is taking its place as a contributor to the music ecosystem in the country and is more than just a festival.

The festival seeks to act as an agent of social development through deliberate music engagements across all segments of the community, she added.

The main features of the event include performances, pedagogy and competitions making it the only multi-genre piano festival. She informed that under the pedagogy, it will have workshops, master-classes and practicums with specialists and artistes from different areas of learning.

For performances, there will be concerts every night where artistes from within and outside the state will perform different genres of piano music.

There will also be competitions in Western classical (both junior and senior categories) and jazz (open) where the prelims will be online and the semis and finals will take place on Sep. 29 and Oct. 1 respectively.

Additionally, the SAM (Specially Abled Musicians) Program of Brillante is being initiated in this festival in order to celebrate the efforts and spirit of musicians with special needs.

Brillante aims to sensitise the larger community about special needs musicians and also share their heroic stories of overcoming odds through the power of music, she Tck while extending invitation to all special needs musicians to perform.

Some of the guests for the 4th edition include acclaimed pianists and artistes including Dr. Adam J Grieg, Academic Co-ordinator of KMMC; Pradyumna Singh Manot; Aki Spadaro, Goa Jazz Academy; Priya Chaturvedi and Anuvrat Choudhry; Sachin Das, MD, Musee Musical a Chennai; Almudena, Global Music Institute (Piano- Spain, Jatziri (vocals)- Mexico); Nise Meruno, Yamaha Ambassador; Roheth Kandwal; Anjili Mata, Academic Head, Trinity College London, India; Sahil Vasudeva; Zingrin Shishak, Dean of Music, MSSM.

Deputy Commissioner of Kohima Shanavas C while assuring support from the district administration said that it would collaborate with the festival by organising some events under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. He urged the people to promote such an event and urged the younger generations to forget all kinds of differences and be united through the event.
