Rev Dr Mar Pongen, principal of the CTC was the main speaker of the event. 91 students received their BA and postgraduate diplomas. During the programme, important personalities who contributed to the growth of Ao literature were also given certificates. Jemtimenba Mollier Foundation Awards were given away to the highest mark scorers from both BA and postgraduate sections. In the field of music, contemporary Ao band, Samaro, were given certificates for their 25 years of contribution to Ao music. Congratulating the successful candidates, Rev Dr Mar Pongen claimed that such achievements ‘cannot be compared with any other achievement in their life.’ The academician also asserted that there was power in literature, unseen by naked eyes, which he said can bring changes in understanding and help growth of knowledge. CTC’s principal also stressed on the importance of preserving and promoting one’s Mother Tongue. He asserted that the more one learns about their Mother Tongue, the language becomes more enriched and imparts knowledge to the people. Citing that in the US alone more than 1,000,000 books are published every year, the reverend remarked that the growth of literature demonstrates advancement of the people and society.
