48 wrestlers to vie for ASA open wrestling on Feb 6

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 3

48 wrestlers will vie for the ultimate title of the 1st ever Angami Sports Association (ASA) Open Naga wrestling championship on February 6 at Kohima Local Ground starting from 9.30 am. The open wrestling coincides with the 43rd ASA sports meet also includes games and athletics from February 4 and 5.
Some prominent wrestlers who will be taking part in the tournament are Zasevikho Meyatsu, Khrievotuo Sekhose, Seketoukho Nipu, Visevo Zashümo and Zasituo Tsükrü. The cash prize for the championship is Rs 1 lakh, while the runner-up will win Rs 70,000. The cash award for the 3rd and 4th position winners is fixed at Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. The losing quarterfinalists will also receive Rs 5000 each.
The 42 wrestlers are Rokoseto Zinyü, Vimhazo Tsira, Seketoukho Nipu, Kekhriezo Nagi, Khrievotuo Sekhose, Kekhriengulie Whuorie, Pelelhuto Rino, Kevizhakho Suokhrie, Kevizhalhu Gwirie, Sabi Gwirie, Mhasisetuo Solo, Keduovilie Zumu, Neitsilie Zhünyü, Megokhozo Nipu, Khrieko Nagi, Thekrusevi Meru, Visedelhou Chüsi, Kikrukhrielie Senotsu, Nivolie Senotsu, Zasevikho Meyatsu, Zasituo Tsükrü, Swedevil Vitsu, Vibeituo Khawakhrie, Thinozakie Sale, Vitsoto Vitsu, Vizobeilie Punyü, Nokhozol Sophie, Lorheshuto Sophie, Nivolie Zashümo, Mezhülhoukho Krose, Kezhawelie Yongo, Ketholhousie Chale, Rokoto Nakro, Seyiesalie Nakhro, Kethosito Rino, Rüdolhoulie Sano, Sebizoto Rino, Rovinguto Chase, Kikruvilie Khawakhrie, Nguvusier Meru, Kezhaseto Kuotsu, Megovizo Visienyü, Vineikholie Rino, Petekolie Nipu, Visevo Zashümo, Nisakhoto Thorie and Vilasielie Talie.
The games and athletic events will be held on February 4 and 5 to at Kohima Local Ground and D’ Khel Ground, Kohima village.
The inaugural function of the 43rd ASA meet on February 4 will be graced by Dr. Neikiesalie Kire as the chief guest at 9.30 am. The invocation will be pronounced by Neise Angami, Pastor, Immanuel Baptist Church, Kohima and the welcome address will be delivered by Dr Rovi Zhünyü, vice president, ASA. The administration of oath will be led by Neikuosielie Rhiepfü, athletics secretary, ASA.
Over 400 athletes will take part in the games and athletic events which also include football for men and volleyball for both men and women.
