47th state badminton championship concludes with thrilling finals

Nagaland’s 47th State Badminton Championship concludes in Chümoukedima with 159 players from 17 districts showcasing talent.

Women’s doubles final match in action.


DIMAPUR — The LI-NING 47th Nagaland Inter-District and State Badminton Championship 2025 drew to a close on Friday at the K Kire Indoor Badminton Stadium, NAPTC, Chumoukedima, on August 1.


The competition witnessed participation of 159 players from 17 districts, and the Nagaland Police. In the team events, 13 districts took part overall. The Men's Team Championship saw participation from 12 districts, while 13 districts competed in the Junior Boys Team category.


In the individual events total entries were 150 players, comprising 109 male and 50 female players. A total of 140 matches were played during the tournament.


While speaking as the special guest, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Training), Imnalensa, acknowledged the challenges and difficulties faced by the Nagaland Badminton Association in organising the annual event. He commended the association for its unwavering commitment in ensuring that the tournament is held every year without fail.

Imnalensa also extended his appreciation to all the participants who had gathered from various parts of Nagaland, stating that their presence had truly brought life and energy to the event


He urged the young players to continue refining their game through practice and repetition, encouraging the youth of Nagaland to constantly strive for growth.


In Mixed doubles final


Khriepezhakuo Seyie (Kohima/Ekumyala (Kohima) defeated Kense Vikehietuo (Kohima)/Tovali Shohe (Dimapur)


 In Girl’s single under-19 final


Kim Kim Khongsai (Dimapur) defeated Kipangwala Longkumer (Dimapur)


In women’s singles final


A Ponlih Konyak (Mon) defeated Watisungla (Mokokchung)


In girls’ doubles under-19 final


Kipangwala Longkumer (Dimapur)/ Yalemjungla (Mokokchung) defeated Nancy (Longleng)/ Moimei B. Phom (Longleng)


In men’s singles final


Yohenba (Mokokchung) defeated Rikhu Khape (Dimapur)


In boy’s doubles under-19 final


Bovi K. Chishi (Niuland) /Heloka Swu (Niuland) defeated Mazilungbo Chawang (Dimapur)/ Meren Sair (Dimapur)


In men’s doubles final


Rikhu Khape (Dimapur)/ Khriepezhakuo Seyie (Kohima) defeated Kense Vikehletuo (Kohima)/ V. Hitto Swu (Shamator)


In mix doubles under-19 final


Meren Sair (Dimapur)/Kim Kim Khongsai (Dimapur) defeated Yatsak Konyak (Mon) / Temennaro (Mokokchung)


In women’s doubles final


Debahuti Lahon (Kohima)/Shekhotolu Puro (Dimapur) defeated A. Unice Konyak (Mon) / Tovali Shohe (Dimapur)


In boy’s singles under-19 final


Yohenba (Mokokchung) defeated Heloka Swu (Niuland)


The top position in the Junior Boy’s category was secured by Niuland district and second positions was secured by Mokokchung, while top position in the Men’s category was secured by Dimapur district and second position was secured by Chümoukedima district.
