46 houses destroyed in massive fire near Nagaland border

DIMAPUR — In major fire incident on Sunday, 46 thatch houses were reduced to ashes at Borlengri-Block 1 of Assam’s Karbi Anglong district bordering Nagaland.

An officer from the West Fire Station in Dimapur informed that the station received a distress call at around 1:19 pm and dispatched two fire tenders each from West and Central fire stations along with fire brigade personnel.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze by 3 pm, but unfortunately, nothing could be salvaged from the destroyed homes.

While there were no casualties reported, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and authorities are still assessing the extent of property damage, the officer said.
