DIMAPUR — The Chessore Town Students’ Union (CTSU) has brought to the notice of the School Education department that three teachers who were transferred to Government High School (GHS) Chessore, Shamator district, are yet to report for duty even after 45 days they received their transfer orders.

In a press release, the CTSU said that during a visit to the school on Oct. 21, the union was surprised to find out that the three teachers – Rakesh Kumar Pathak (GT Maths), Pongsensoba (GT Science) and Lucy (GMS Science) – who were transferred to GHS Chessore as per the government order dated September 6, 2024, have still not reported to school.

This is despite repeated calls from the SMC official, school authorities and student leaders, the union claimed.

Pointing out that the School Education department has already published the classes VIII and IX board examination routine, the CTSU lamented that the students are yet to complete their syllabus because of the absence of teachers.

The union questioned as to who will be responsible for the students as most of them “will fail in main subjects like Maths and Science.”

Expressing anguish over non-compliance of the department’s order by the concerned teachers, the union requested the advisor, principal director and director of School Education, to take note and initiate necessary stern action.

Terming the absence of the teachers as “highly questionable,” the CTSU also insisted that the teachers should be booked under relevant sections of law by the concerned department “for killing the future of our students.”

Further, alleging “lukewarm attitude” on the part of the government for not taking serious action against the erring teachers, the union served a five-day deadline to “all the designated transferred teachers to report GHS Chessore.”

Failing to meet the deadline, the CTSU said it would initiate necessary action as per the law, and the union will not be held responsible for any untoward circumstance.
