Azo hopes for friendlier govt in Centre for development of Nagaland

MINISTER for Roads & Bridges, Kuzholuzo Nienu (Azo) accepting that the road conditions in the state are in pathetic shape and very cancerous, today however shifted the blame to the Central government for not providing sufficient funds.
Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural function of the 43rd general conference of Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK) under the theme “Knowledge as weapon” at Kichilimi village, some 35 kms from Pughoboto under Zunheboto district, he said all Nagaland roads are in very bad shape and it has become cancerous needing immediate treatment.
Nevertheless, he said that Nagaland does not have own sources for revenue generation, we depend on the Centre for all forms of development. He also hinted that the state was looking for a friendlier government at the centre after the Lok Sabha polls to take up developmental works. Referring to the memorandum submitted by SAKK requesting the R&B Minister for proper construction of the 18 km road from Mukalimi junction to Kichilimi village, Azo asserted that he would try all possible means in close coordination with the local MLA Vikheho Swu.
He also requested the general public of the 22 villages under Pughoboto sub-division to extend fullest cooperation to their elected representative to make Pughoboto shine and prosper.
Further expressing that development is a multi-dimensional concept, he said that ‘it (development) is a system to ensure education, health, security, stability and revenue generation for the general public.
He therefore said in order to achieve the multi-aspect of development, the society has to make improvement in human resource development.
It is time for the Naga society to invest in our children and mould them for the better as they are the future of our society, he said. Azo also maintained that Nagas will have a bright future if we prosper in human resources but our future will be dark if we do not invest in human resource development.
Further expressing that Nagas are second to none in the field of education, the Minister maintained that education alone is not enough but the need of the hour is quality education, which can help build up the career of youngsters.
Maintaining that the new year 2014 which has just begun should be a year of reconciliation, peace and unity for the Naga people, he expressed hope that the bonding between the Chakhesangs and Sumis bring about the spirit of oneness amongst the Nagas.
Minister Azo was accompanied by local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control Vikheho Swu and Chairman Nagaland Hotels Limited Pictor Shohe. Parliamentary Secretary for Fishery and S&WC Shetoyi Sumi inaugurated the games and sports competitions of SAKK.
The inaugural programme chaired by advisor SAKK Kalito H. Chishi commenced with Pastor of Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Akukuhou Kohima, Rev. Kiyeto G. Sema saying the invocation. Former president of SAKK, Kughakhu Sheqi GB delivered the welcome address while speaker opf All Sumi Students; Union (SKK) Bito Yepthomi extended greetings. SAKK president Caleb Swu delivered the presidential address.
Special song by Lovini Yeptho and cultural performance by the Kichilimi village enthralled the gathering.
SAKK comprises of Sumi students union from the 22 villages under Pughoboto sub-division.
