40 beneficiaries receive free LN4 prosthetic hands
Rotary clubs of Kohima, Mokokchung, Imphal, Polo City Imphal, Golaghat, Jorhat, Akhil Bhartya Marwarui Mahila Sammelan, Golaghat Branch and District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Dimapur, joined hands to identify beneficiaries
DIMAPUR — A total of forty people received LN4 prosthetic hands during the free prosthetic hand fitting camp organised by Rotary Club Dimapur (RCD) here at Rotary Centre on Saturday.
It may be mentioned that Rotary clubs of Kohima, Mokokchung, Imphal, Polo City Imphal, Golaghat, Jorhat, Akhil Bhartya Marwarui Mahila Sammelan, Golaghat Branch and District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Dimapur, joined hands to identify beneficiaries.
The organisers informed that LN4 below elbow prosthetic hands, which weighs approximately 450 gramme, is provided free of cost to the beneficiaries.
The prosthetic hand can perform daily activities such as eating with spoon, writing using a pen, riding a bicycle and can also lift weights upto 4 kg.
It was informed that the arrangement for the camp was sponsored by the Kashliwal family of Dimapur in the memory of late Kailash Chand Kasliwal and late Phuli Devi Kasliwal.
Advisor of Law & Justice and Land Development, TN Mannen, who also attended the camp’s inaugural programme, said he was really encouraged by “this act of giving” and said everyone should imbibe the idea of service to those in need.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal said the quality life of the beneficiaries will improve through this camp. The DC also said that the Rotary Club is an organisation which has been maintaining a close relationship with the society.
Project chairperson, Nitin Aggarwal, shared that the idea of the camp was to reach out to every person possible, be it in rural or urban areas, and that they tried to spread the news by giving out wide publicity.
Sangita Jain, chairperson of SAKSHAM project, disclosed that the prosthetic hands came all the way from the USA, and added that through collective efforts they have been able to give prosthetic hands to the beneficiaries.

She also requested the beneficiaries to share videos of them doing physical activities as such videos will motivate the organisers to continue helping others.
Yikheto, a beneficiary who received a prosthetic hand last year, also shared his experience on how he is able to perform daily activities.
