The competitions for Naga Chef Season 10 began on November 16 at SIHM (State Institute of Hotel Management) with 14 participants, who were screened from a total of 21 applicants.
In the past one week, there were a total of six competitions where participants were judged on their creative skills cooking updishes from starters to mains and desserts using only indigenous ingredients, stated an update from the organisers.
It stated that a pantry-full of ingredients sourced from local markets and villages were provided to the participants, who were given freedom to utilise them as they wished.
The judges were chef Indranil Roychoudhury, principal of SIHM; Nuneseno Chase, director of YouthNet; Sentila T Yanger, social entrepreneur and state convenor of INTACH; Alemjungla Jamir, founder of Naga Bowl Express, and chef Loni Khing.
The dishes were judged on the parameters of taste, authenticity, presentation and the cook’s food knowledge.
