3rd NAP Bn celebrates 50th Unit Raising Day

Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): The 3rd NAP Battalion celebrated its 50th Raising Day on Monday with DGP Nagaland, L.L. Doungel IPS as chief guest.
Speaking on the ocassion, DGP congratulated the 3rd NAP Bn and extended Golden Jubilee greetings to all the officers, jawans and families. He mentioned that occasion such as Golden Jubilee doesn’t come often and he is honoured to be a part of 3rd NAP’s Golden Jubilee celebration and acknowledged the contribution made by pioneers of the unit and pensioners during the inception of the Battalion.
While emphasising that police job is all about being prompt and readiness for any nature of duties, he acknowledge that 3rd NAP has been exceedingly effective in performing duties within and outside the district. He was of the opinion that 3rd NAP personnel are not only discipline and hardworking, but also exceptionally good in Battlecraft proficiency and Endurance Test (BPET) and other sports activities as seen from the record of Police meet.
Earlier DGP unveiled Golden Jubilee monolith and also inaugurated Jubilee Memorial Rostrum at the Unit’s Parade ground.
It may be mentioned that the 3rd NAP Battalion was raised on May 1, 1967 at Chumukedima with the first batch of personnel enrolled from various units. 116 personnel from the Village Guard, 36 personnel from 1st NAP Battalion, 7 personnel from 2nd NAP Battalion and 5 personnel from DEF Kohima. Later the Battalion was shifted to the present HQ Tuensang on April 30, 1968.
A brief history of the unit and remembrance of fallen heroes of the Battalion were mentioned by Ngou Khiam Adjutant.
The programme was chaired by Shiluwapang, Deputy Commandant, invocation was pronounced by unit pastor, Akhang Chang while welcome address was delivered by Rhovisie Nyuwi, Commandant and vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Impung Chang (Q.M).
The Jubilee was celebrated with much pomp and gaiety with the Unit’s Pipe Band and music band enthralling the gathering with their rendition of all time favourite songs.
The programme was attended by host of dignitaries including Bendang Lemtur IGP (AB); Tokiumong Yimchunger, DIGP (R/NAP), Vikhram Ezung, SP Tuensang; Ben Longkumer, SP Kiphire and Nchumbemo Odyou, ADC Tuensang. Representatives from ENPO, ENSF, ENWO, CKS, KTC, YTC and USSLB also attended.
