The annual event of the Mokokchung Adventure and Motorsports Association (AMAM)-‘3rd Mokokchung Auto-X’- got underway today here at Imkongmeren Sport Complex.
The event was flagged off by Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Dr Benjongliba Aier as the chief guest.
The event is organized in collaboration with District Administration, Mokokchung District Sport Council and Mokokchung District Art and Culture in commemoration of 125 years of Mokokchung Town.
While speaking at the programme Dr Aier paid his homage to the pioneers and forefathers who had established this township during the British rule with a version for the future generation.Parliamentary Secretary also lauded the AMAM for the successful trip of “Tour de Hills 3 and Jubilee Adventure Trail” for extending the quasquicentennial greetings and invitation to all the villages they come across in their adventure. He also added that AMAM have participated in National and International events and brought many laurels to the state.
He also urged the participants to be more adventures and to usher the seeds of unity and cooperation among the people through sports.
The AutoX is comprised of four wheelers and two wheelers covering a lap length of approximately 2.5 km. Altogether 58 participants from in and outside the Districts are partaking in the two- day event.
In four wheelers SUV categories they are 12 competitors, above 1000 cc- 12 competitors and below 1000cc competitors. In two wheelers Novice categories they are 10 competitors and lastly in Expert categories they are 3 competitors.
Meanwhile, the 3rd Tour de Hills & Jubilee Adventure Trail was held successfully from 4-5th November, crossing all the administrative blocks of the district, covering approximately 300 kilometer. Altogether 22 Vehicles partook in the event.
The winners in the 3rd Tour de Hills, held in TSD format are 1st Tali Akang & Mulinath Gosh, 2nd Rajiv Sarkar & Gairick Khan, 3rd Waimeren & Sanen, 4th Kavi & Neihu and 5th Lanusunep & Tzudiyong.
In Jubilee Adventure Trail the best Decorated Car was bagged by Wapang Kichu; Best Couple: Achen Longchar & Limala Aier; Best Institution/Team: Team Spearhead and Best Discipline Team: Lanuaienla & Lina Sumi.
