Dimapur, March 11 (EMN): The 3rd Astro Turf futsal tournament under the aegis of OLOGOC — One life, one goal, one chance– club got underway with 24 teams from across the state vying for the trophy at Zasivi Futsal Arena, Jotsoma, Kohima on Friday.
In the pre-quarterfinal matches, AG boys FC, Emoji FC, Team SS FC, Bull Dog FC, Khuzaka FC, Team Crew X FC, Adroit Boys FC and Marturia FC registered wins, moving on the quarter final.
During the inaugural and oath taking ceremony programme, chief patron Megosielie Punyü, while addressing the attendance, stressed that the game was not just about winning, but a platform to build team spirit through co-operation and discipline.
Punyü also called upon the teams to enjoy the game and reminded the players to display sportsmanship, be disciplined and avoid unsporting behaviour or show aggression towards other contenders or match officials.
He lauded the OLOGOC Club for organising the tournament, commenting that till the 3rd edition organized this far, it has been growing and enabling young upcoming players to grow as sports enthusiasts.
OLOGOC president, Khriezotuo Miachieo chaired the programme. The quarterfinals will resume on Saturday on March 12 at 10 AM.
In this year’s edition, the prize pool is INR 45,000 along with sports merchandise and certificate for player of the tournament and best goalkeeper.
