DIMAPUR — The 33rd general conference of Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN), hosted by the Jalukie Students’ Union (JSU) at Jalukie B and themed ‘Striving together for a better future’, commenced on Thursday,
According to a press release, speaking as an introductory guest, General Secretary of Naga Hoho, K Elu Ndang, stated that in the past, the British had committed wrong by dividing the Zeliangrong people into different administrations. As a result, they are suffering today in every aspect of their lives, everywhere.
Elu reminded the gathering of a man named Nehemiah in the Bible who rebuilt the broken walls and gates of Jerusalem. He questioned the gathering if they could find a Nehemiah in their community, as the Zeliangrong society and the Nagas are broken into pieces.
He noted that no number of artificial boundaries should deter them from coming together as one and he called upon the gathering to emulate the spirit of brotherhood once again and find a way towards a better future.
He further challenged everyone to love, understand, and spread love with a renewed spirit and a refreshed mindset. He called upon them to work towards restoring the broken barriers between “our people and its land”.
The introductory session was chaired by the former President of ZSUN, Asappe, while the welcome address was delivered by Jalukie Students’ Union President, Agumbe Nring.
