DIMAPUR — The 33rd Sümi Baptist Pastors’ Union (SBPU) biennial conference is underway at Sümi Baptist Church Zünheboto (SBCZ) on the theme, ‘Back to the family’. It commenced on October 20 and will culminate on October 22.
More than 350 pastors from various churches affiliated with Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (SBAK) (Nito Mount), Sümi Aphuyemi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (SABAK), and Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) are attending the three-day conference, according to a press release.
The conference began with an opening act by the Sunday School department, SBCZ, followed by a welcome address by Ihoto Yeptho, chairman, deacon council, SBCZ.
I Hutoshe Awomi, executive engineer, PWD (Roads and Bridges), while delivering his greetings, encouraged the pastors’ to be agents of change and urged them to focus solely on ‘soul winning’ and not on other materialistic things. He also stressed the need to strengthen the youth and Sunday school ministries in every church.
He challenged the pastors to identify their talents’ and glorify God’s name by using them to transform the lives of the believers.
Rev. Khutovi Swu, president of SBPU, delivered a sermon on the occasion on the theme and urged the congregation to dedicate their best time to their family, mentioning that ‘God’s desire is for your entire family to come under His blessing and protection’.
