3367 stranded citizens evacuated till date

Kohima, May 23 (EMN):
A total of 3367 stranded Nagaland citizens have arrived in the state till date, according to an update received from the control room of Empowered Committee in Dimapur on Saturday evening.

On Saturday, as of 6 pm, 90 stranded people reached the state.

Sources in the Empowered Committee informed Eastern Mirror that a train each from New Delhi and Dibrugarh carrying 47 and 5 passengers respectively reached Dimapur railway station.

A bus from Sikkim ferried 23 people, while a private car each from Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam transported a total number of 10 persons to the commercial hub on Saturday.

On the same day, a private car from Delhi transported five persons to Peren district.

According to the committee, so far, 1469 persons have been evacuated from Tamil Nadu; Assam – 759; Meghalaya – 372; West Bengal – 202; Manipur – 165; Arunachal Pradesh – 162; Bihar – 111; Sikkim – 41; Uttar Pradesh – 23; Delhi – 21; Mizoram – 18; Gujarat – 16; Rajasthan – 5; and Tripura – 3.

Another private bus ferrying 12 persons from Madhya Pradesh is expected to reach Dimapur on Sunday morning.

Gurugram train delayed

Meanwhile, according to an update from the control room of Empowered Committee in Dimapur, the special train from Gurugram, Haryana to Dimapur, which was expected to arrive on Sunday morning, has been delayed.

The source informed Eastern Mirror that the train might reach Dimapur either on Sunday night or Monday morning.

Nine Chennai returnees test negative

Dimapur, May 23 (EMN):
An official source informed Eastern Mirror that nine samples of symptomatic passengers who arrived by the special train on May 22 have returned negative, and results are awaited.

“Testing is still continuing and more will be done of symptomatic passengers as the days proceed,” said the official adding that samples are also sent to Dibrugarh and Imphal for testing.
