Dimapur, April 9 (EMN): The 32nd Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) convention began on the theme “In your patient endurance, you will gain your soul” at NAPO conference hall in Chiephobozou on Friday.

Delegates from 59 Angami villages are taking part in the event.

The three-day conference hosted by St Dominic Savio parish commenced with the unfurling of the ACYA flag by Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo, spiritual director ACYA, followed by presentation of the newly composed ACYA anthem.

Vikepelhou Lucas Meyase, former director School Education department, urged the youth to follow the principles of Christ and encouraged them to show great endurance, to forgive one another and to lead others by example.

He further challenged the youth to stand firm in their faith and believe in the word of God.

Addressing the gathering, Johnny Ruangmei, president of Catholic Association of Nagaland, reminded the youth to reflect on the purpose of the formation of ACYA. Saying that now is an appropriate time for them to have a bold vision, he urged them to retrospect the past and imagine the future.

Stating that the youth has “power in their palms”, he asked them to ponder upon how one could use technology to strengthen one’s spiritual faith.

He said Angami tribe has a fair number of Catholics and urged the ACYA to be the torchbearers of the youth.

The Catholic Youth Association, Chiephobozou presented a song on the first day of the convention and concluded the day with the recitation of the rosary by Ruokuovituo Robert, catechist of Christ the King Church Kohima.
