Kohima, April 29 (EMN): Distribution of relief materials jointly initiated by the Kohima district administration and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) have immensely benefitted the daily wage earners, students and travellers stranded at Kohima since the lockdown.
EAC Kevingoto Kulna informed Eastern Mirror that a total of 31,241 people from Kohima district have availed ration relief from the relief distribution centre at Kohima local ground as of April 28. The ration relief distribution started on March 31 and would continue till the lockdown period is over.
According to Kulna, beneficiaries under Kohiama sadar included 11,340 daily wagers from other states, 10,451 local daily wagers, 3550 students and 686 others such as orphanages, old age homes etc.
He informed that the administration has provided relief to around 500-600 beneficiaries daily in the past 6-7 days through the ward authorities. He further mentioned that 14 more people, mostly daily wagers from other states, have come to relief camp on Sunday making the total number of people at relief camp to 37. The relief camp is being set up at Kohima local ground.
